Long time, new beads! (festival-beads!!!)

Yes, I know. Long time, no beads. Or so it seems, but I have been making beads, lately, its all festival beads.. We have a huge music festival in Oslo called the Øya festival. Featuring all the latest bands and gathering nearly 15 000 people in Oslo. The sorrounding of the festival is the medieval city of oslo, with remaining ruins of the kings palace, church of st. maria, the medieval city and harbour area.

I was so inspired that I made some beads: the y are not that advanced, but I like them. They are called "all night long"...
Focal bead and spacers: turqoise, dark green, yellow and silvered stringer..

Etched focal bead, spacers beads

Different spacer beads; green, torqoise, silvered, ivory stringer.

Perlefryd is on the move..

Well, we finished the kitchen, celebrated christmas, new year, started working again, got the flu, and keep sneezing and coughing..

I haven't had too much torch-time so far this year, mainly because we are looking for a house - a bit bigger, a garden and a garage.. We really need a garage! And I really, really want my torch installed in a permanent studio :-)

But, no more sulking and whining! I spent some evenings making jewelry. Mostly with "spare-beads" and bits and pieces i didn't quite know what to do with.. So i present some pictures of the first "spare-bead"-project... Amethyst, sterling, silver, glass beads and handmade lampwork-beads. Not entirely first class ;-) But I like it!

News from Perlefryd! Finally..

Quick update from Perlefryd:

  • The kitchen is (almost) finished!

  • My studio is filled with left-over furniture we either should sell or just throw away..

  • I just ordered some presses and molds (jiiha!!)

  • It is only 5 weeks till Christmas - puh!

Ok, I admit I haven’t been the most productive beadmaker the last two months! When there’s no kitchen, there’s no reason in the world Sir Glenn would accept me running away and making beads instead of redecorating…

But last week I told him he could buy a Playstation 3, and now he is happily road
racing upstairs.. Hi hihihih ;-).

I wanted to show you a bracelet I made when trying to master the fish-shell technique. No bead is alike and not one came out the way I wanted it to. But thanks to the masters for showing me “how to” in books and on internet. I am most grateful! Later I will find out how to make my own design out of it.

I have many of orders for the moment – all to be ready before Christmas. Of course… Hopefully I will post more before Christmas. Maybe a sneak peek of some of the gifts..?

My spare time is running away from me.. But I try to keep up with a new job, redecorating the kitchen and hallway, AND lampworking!

I have made some new jewelry, mostly bracelets and earrings. I wanted to show you some of my latest things; my favorite set of earrings (turquoise and ivory, glazed), a quite bold heart of ivory/silverfoil and topaz frit, the most beautiful focal bead/necklace I think I have made so far ;-). Besides this I took some chaos-pictures of my jewelry..

Well, the lighting could have been better than the the lamp my own carpenter (SirGlen) uses…But nevertheless, here are some pictures!!

Following the bubbles to the surface...

New job, new system, new faces, and a different type of responsibility! But I keep following the bubbles… I seems to be difficult to find time to both lampwork AND blogging! If I have to choose, lampwork comes first.

Update:
- I’m waiting for my new kiln. Whoooa!
- I bought a lot of Bali silver
- I have started extending my silversmith-knowledge...
- I bought some gorgeous books that I learn a lot from.
- I made my first basic petal-flower. And it is cute, but not beautiful.

And the best is that I have a lot of special orders, of both bead-sets and jewelry. So all I have to do is order more glassrods and keep working. Here are some pictures of my experimental bracelet, he beads are simple, but I like my turquoise flower and the flat spiral silver-dangles!

And a special thanks to the Übertanten - you know why!

Motherdragon: I need more dried apples ;-)

Perlefryd have entered a design-competition!

I have entered at competition in one of the local beads-stores in Norway. I’m not sure whether I have what it takes to win, but it was fun just trying to make a complete set of jewelry!!

Here are some pictures of the beads I used, they are simple but I like the effect.

And now I’m of on summer vacation… See ya!

Perlefryd needs to learn basic photography…

After taking a LOT of pictures, I didn’t find any of them good enough... It’s difficult to photograph beads, especially when I don’t have a light box! So, I’m not satisfied with the picture, and that’s the reason its only one….. After taking the pictures, I’m not even satisfied with tbe bead ;-)

I found a beautiful color, avocado green, and I think it looks great together with turquoise. But I really have to work more with them!
